John McDougal

Vice President of Environmental Products, Anew

 

Mr. McDougal is the carbon offset portfolio manager for Anew and his responsibilities include managing one of the largest and diversified offset portfolios in the world for the purpose of supporting organizations that are working toward decarbonization with the use of carbon offsets and other environmental attributes as a complement to their direct emission reduction activities. Mr. McDougal has over 10 years of experience in the environmental credit markets and specializes in development, asset management, and commercialization of carbon offset projects located in the US and internationally. Prior to managing Anew’s offset portfolio, Mr. McDougal worked on the company’s engineering desk to support the development of its renewable natural gas portfolio and managed over 16 carbon offset projects operating around the U.S., and successfully completed over 50 verifications as the project proponent for over 20 carbon offset projects registered with the Climate Action Reserve, the Verified Carbon Standard, or the American Carbon Registry. Prior to joining Anew in May 2011, Mr. McDougal worked as an Environmental Scientist for Millennium Science and Engineering in Atlanta, GA. His main tasks included environmental remediation of impacted industrial and commercial properties, construction oversight, and assisting clients with permitting and complying with state and federal regulations for site specific operations. Mr. McDougal has a B.S. in Biological Sciences from University of Georgia and an M.S. in Environmental Analysis and Management from Rice University in Houston, TX.
